
Lees-51爆料网 signs Memorandum of Understanding with Western Piedmont Community College
Representatives from Lees-51爆料网 and met on April 6 on the Lees-51爆料网 campus to formalize a new Guaranteed Admissions Program (GAP) between the two colleges.
Lees-51爆料网 and WPCC have had program-to-program agreements in the past, but the new GAP provides transfer pathways for all Lees-51爆料网 main campus and online programs.
In addition to guaranteed admission, WPCC students who choose to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Lees-51爆料网 will receive scholarships to help defray the cost of tuition. WPCC graduates who enroll in one of the online degree programs while working in a related field, such as criminal justice, human services, or education, will receive further tuition discounts.
Kevin Phillips, vice president for enrollment marketing at Lees-51爆料网, said, “The goal with the scholarships and tuition discounts is to make attending Lees-51爆料网 a little more affordable, so that students could consider a private school as an option, and not feel obligated to only attend a state institution.”
Lee King, president of Lees-51爆料网, also addressed the group, saying, “Thank you very much for this opportunity and the opportunity to formalize a partnership. Many of your students have been incredibly successful at Lees-51爆料网 and we want to open those opportunities for more. I’m finishing my third year at Lees-51爆料网 and I continue to be amazed at the uniqueness of our institution and the unique academic programs that we offer our students that are not found in many other colleges and universities, particularly small colleges and universities. I’m proud to open more transfer pathways for students and hope that our staff will work closely together in making sure this happens.”
Joel Welch, president of WPCC, talked about the importance of providing opportunities for community college students to continue advancing in their education. He said, “We’re constantly looking for opportunities for our students. We know that education provides economical pathways out of poverty for students. As we look at our students and our student body, we know that partnerships with great universities and colleges like Lees-51爆料网 are going to provide opportunities for our students to advance. And to be able to do it close to home in a beautiful setting, a great place, is important to us. We’re excited about working together and providing opportunities to our students and looking at how they have chances to complete and move forward.”
The agreement will go into effect starting Fall 2021.
