Amara is a second-year MEng biochemical engineering student at University College London. Alongside her degree, she is completing a minor in application programming for data science, where she is developing her skills in Python and software engineering.
Through her studies, Amara has explored mathematical modelling, bioprocess engineering, and the role of emerging technologies in improving treatments and patient outcomes. She enjoys working on collaborative projects and was recently part of a team named as finalists in the IChemE Young Engineers Awards for Innovation and Sustainability (YEAIS) competition with their project, PharmaLoop. These experiences sparked her interest in understanding healthcare beyond the development of new technologies, particularly how real-world data can be used to identify patient needs, inform decision-making, and highlight where improvements can have the greatest impact.
During her internship, she is looking forward to learning from industry professionals, collaborating with fellow interns, and gaining insight into the health data science field. In the future, she hopes to build a career at the intersection of healthcare, biotechnology, and innovation.
