Christine is a penultimate year health and human sciences student at Durham University, where she studies health through a medical anthropological lens, exploring inequalities in care, health data, and the social and biological dimensions of disease. Through research projects, including work on sickle cell disease, she has developed both qualitative and quantitative skills, from participant observation and interviews to coding in RStudio and analysing health datasets.
She applied to this internship to bring her understanding of structural inequalities into real-world practice. Christine is particularly excited to contribute to identifying blood cancer inequalities and health intelligence work with Blood Cancer UK, believing that data is one of the most powerful tools for narrowing healthcare gaps and improving lived experiences.
