Emilymary holds an MRes in advanced biological sciences from University of Exeter, with a strong background in microbial biotechnology. My research experience has given her hands‑on exposure to genomic and bioinformatics datasets, strengthening her skills in data interpretation, quality assurance, and ensuring that genome sequence outputs are accurate, reproducible, and meaningful.
Emilymary has contributed to projects involving whole‑genome sequences to characterise bacterial pathogens, assess antimicrobial resistance, support monogenic diabetes testing, address challenges in taxonomic classification. These experiences have sharpened her analytical thinking, attention to detail, and appreciation for high‑quality data principles in health data science.
Motivated to be confident in my analytical capabilities, Emilymary is eager to develop skills in statistical modelling and data visualisation to communicate insights to clinical and non‑technical audiences. She is particularly interested in how robust data can reduce health inequalities and strengthen evidence‑based practice. This internship aligns with her goal of becoming a health data scientist and will complement her expertise with applied analytical skills.
