Jessica has an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and a master鈥檚 in bioinformatics. Her experience working in the NHS, private laboratories, and science-focused startups has fuelled her interest in computational biology to develop technologies that aid in the treatment, prevention, and diagnosis of diseases, particularly those affecting less economically developed communities and minority populations.

After completing her master鈥檚, Jessica aimed to explore AI-driven approaches to support clinical decision-making, particularly for underrepresented communities. This internship at the UKHSA is therefore very exciting, and she is eager to get stuck in and learn.

As healthcare undergoes a digital revolution, she believes these technologies have the potential to integrate into precision medicine and make a significant impact by improving patient outcomes. She looks forward to applying her skills to real-world challenges and making a tangible difference in patient care.
