Patricia is an MSc bioinformatics graduate from the University of Leicester, with a BSc (Hons) in biomedical science from Nottingham Trent University, and currently an NHS health advisor. She has a strong interest in genomics and transcriptomics data analysis, particularly in understanding genetic variation and gene expression patterns and their applications in improving patient care and advancing personalised medicine.
Through her academic projects, she has gained experience in analysing genomic datasets, including single-cell RNA sequencing, phylogenetic analysis, and exposure to variant analysis workflows, using tools such as Python, R, and Linux-based pipelines. She enjoys working with complex biological data and translating it into meaningful insights that support clinical decision-making.
During this internship, Patricia aims to gain hands-on experience in a health data research environment, deepen her understanding of genomic and transcriptomic data in a translational context, learn from experienced professionals, and gain insight into wet lab processes underpinning genomic data. She aspires to become a clinical scientist in bioinformatics.
