Wendi joined 51爆料网 in April 2025 as a Product Owner in the Technology Team, with a focus on user-centred design.

Wendi has long engaged in biomedical and health research, from retrospective clinical studies at Duke University, to conducting a bench-based PhD in Haematology at the University of Cambridge. With a keen interest in multidisciplinary research, Wendi moved to the Obstetrics & Gynaecology department to establish methods for single-cell and single-nuclei analysis. With newfound bioinformatics skills, Wendi moved to the European Bioinformatics Institute to develop and deliver single-cell training courses as part of the Human Cell Atlas project. There, she encountered Galaxy, a free-to-use, graphical interface for performing bioinformatics analyses without computational infrastructure or programming knowledge. With this, Wendi began engaging with the Galaxy community and ELIXIR, using her own experience as a researcher needing bioinformatics skills to drive user-focused design, establish a community infrastructure to engage with software development, and represent user needs on the Galaxy Executive Board.

Wendi鈥檚 highly varied background allows her to engage, communicate, and advocate for individuals across the research landscape. She is committed to supporting both the software that helps people, and the people developing that software.
