Three months ago, we set out our plan to make Health Data Research UK a more diverse and inclusive place to work and to do research, through publishing our first Diversity and Inclusion Policy.

Our objectives are ambitious. Reaching our potential in making discoveries that improve people鈥檚 lives using health data requires an inclusive community, a diverse workforce, and data representing all segments of society, diseases and conditions.

I am pleased to say that we are making early progress.聽 We have formally incorporated ethnicity as a measure of data quality on the . We have made changes to our recruitment process to reduce unconscious bias. We have become members of who are advising us on our upcoming recruitment to diversify our non-Executive Board. 聽And we have set up a Diversity and Inclusion Committee that advises us and holds us to account.

As this week is Inclusive Employers鈥 鈥榥ational inclusion week鈥, we are celebrating the importance of diverse data, people and perspectives 鈥 all key elements in our policy 鈥 and highlighting successes and opportunities across our community. 聽We will be sharing stories and insights from our colleagues and partners though blog posts, social media, and press releases under the theme 鈥渨e鈥檙e all in this together.鈥

We know we can work harder to involve people from more diverse communities in our research projects and so today we are launching 51爆料网 Voices, a brand new network for people who want to use their voice to influence and shape our work.
